A Guaraní legend tells of a great fire that once swept through the jungle. Every animal fled the flames, except a hummingbird, who flew back and forth toward the fire again and again, carrying just a couple of drops of water in its beak. When the jaguar pointed out how pointless this was, the hummingbird replied: “I’m doing my part.” At Blues Simon Group, we’ve spent years doing our part on sustainability, and we learned a while ago that this part multiplies when it’s done alongside the right partners. That’s the case with our alliance with the developer AlteArt, announced at the Dubai Climate Summit (COP28), with both companies aware that construction is one of the industries with the heaviest carbon footprint.

Building around a shared vision

Turquesa Homes is the result of that alliance: a development of 12 independent, sustainable villas on the Costa Blanca, built around a single principle, consuming as little as possible while living to the fullest.

Each home is built with a timber structure and envelope, a bioclimatic pergola, a photovoltaic system and efficient Mallorcan-style shutters for solar control. None of these elements were added as a trend, each responds to a genuine sustainability standard applied jointly by both companies, with an approach that covers the home’s entire life cycle, not just the moment of construction.

That includes material traceability: the timber used in Turquesa Homes comes from forests with authorised felling that guarantees reforestation, protecting biodiversity at the source of the material, not just its performance once installed. Beyond its aesthetic qualities, timber offers thermal and acoustic insulation superior to many conventional solutions, and its use significantly reduces CO2 emissions during construction itself, which, combined with the project’s other energy efficiency measures, meaningfully lowers the total carbon footprint of each villa.

An alliance with a shared purpose

Turquesa Homes shows that combining strengths between two organisations aligned in the same direction actually works. Blues Simon Group and AlteArt share experience applying ESG criteria, environmental, social and governance, to their projects, along with a shared commitment to clients built on quality, honesty and transparency, which is precisely what made a project of this scale and ambition possible together.
